Links Because I'm Tired

I apologize for the lack of updates recently. Work combined with finishing up Takota's album has sadly taken a chunk out of my blogging time. I'm working on some larger posts that require a bit more attention on my part. A couple of commenters have encouraged me to get more serious about my sources, so I'm challenging myself.
The good news is I can take this time to share some links that I've been reading over the last few weeks. Enjoy!
Charles Washington has summarized every chapter of Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes.
Chris Norton, my former fruitarian brother, has created what some are calling "the greatest website on the web". I always knew Chris Norton was too big to live solely on the Zeroing In On Health forums. Here it is... Unleash The Beef.
If you have not already done so, check out Gary Tabues's talk at Dartmouth. I have an MP3 version that I will try to have up on the site in a few days
Kurt Harris over at the PāNu Weblog wrote a fantastic breakdown of the latest caloric restriction (CR) research that hit the front of the New York Times.
- Calorie Restricted Monkeys Part I
- Calorie Restricted Monkeys Part II
- Calorie Restricted Monkeys Conclusion
The PāNu Weblog is quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs. Kurt's attention to detail, great writing style, and dislike towards fruit is wildly appealing.
Barry Groves is still kicking ass at 71 years old. He recently wrote an article explaining that contrary to popular belief, most herbivores in the animal kingdom eat a high fat diet. While this seems paradoxical, Groves explains that gorillas and other herbivores harbour large amounts of bacteria in their colon which ferments carbohydrates, particularly fiber, and use it to produce short chain fatty acids. The fatty acids produced from the fiber are highly saturated and are used as fuel. This has been a vegan argument for quite a while. It's nice to see that is has no basis.
